When Things Go Wrong During Childbirth

The consequences of mistakes at birth can last a lifetime. Conditions such as cerebral palsy, birth-related autism injuries, Erb’s palsy and shoulder dystocia, or sub-galeal haemorrhage usually leave a child with permanent disability and create significant additional care needs. These needs are met, often with extraordinary love and devotion, by parents and families.

It is natural for parents to have questions about how a pregnancy or delivery was managed. Those questions deserve clear and independent answers. This is often where we become involved – listening to your concerns, obtaining and carefully reviewing the records, and providing informed, non-medical preliminary views. If necessary, we then help you to commission expert medical opinions to determine whether the care fell below an acceptable standard, and if so, whether that failure caused your baby’s injury.

At Cian O’Carroll Solicitors, we act with care and determination to uncover what went wrong, secure expert medical insight, and fight for the support and redress your child deserves – so their future is not defined or limited by negligent mistakes made at birth.
