Case Study
A 55-year-old man attended A&E with symptoms later revealed to be an abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA). Despite clear warning signs, there was a critical delay in diagnosis and transfer to a specialist unit. By the time surgery began, hours later, his condition had deteriorated significantly, causing greater surgical complications and long-term damage that could have been avoided with timely intervention. He was left with lasting disabilities, including weakness in his leg, permanent bladder catheterisation, and severe restrictions on his independence and family life.
We worked with leading medical experts to reconstruct the timeline of events and demonstrate how proper care would have transformed his outcome. Through expedited High Court proceedings, we secured a €1.65 million settlement via mediation, ensuring provision for his future care and financial stability for his family. This case illustrates the devastating impact of delayed treatment; and our determination to pursue justice where patients and families suffer the consequences of medical negligence.
