At Cian O’Carroll Solicitors, our team acted in a High Court medical negligence case involving a man in his late seventies, a farmer, who was diagnosed with advanced colorectal cancer following missed opportunities for earlier detection during screening and hospital investigations.
Due to his extremely limited life expectancy, the case was managed on an urgent basis. Proceedings were issued in late October 2021 and the matter was brought swiftly to mediation.
Within just three months of issuing proceedings, the case was successfully settled for €600,000 plus legal costs.
This outcome provided security and recognition for our client and his family, while avoiding the need for a prolonged trial process during a very difficult stage of his illness.
